To receive the minutes of the meeting of the Appeals Sub-Committee held on 12 December 2017 (copy attached) and for the Chairman of the Sub-Committee to sign, as a correct record.

RESOLVED – That the minutes of the meeting of the Appeals Sub-Committee held on 12 December 2017 be received and signed by the Chairman of the Sub-Committee as a correct record.

Declarations of Interest

To receive declarations by Members of interests in respect of items on this Agenda.

 

Members are reminded that, in accordance with the revised Code of Conduct, they are required to declare any disclosable pecuniary interests or other registrable interests which have not already been declared in the Council’s Register of Interests.  (It is a criminal offence not to declare a disclosable pecuniary interest either in the Register or at the meeting.)

 

Members may, however, also decide, in the interests of clarity and transparency, to declare at this point in the meeting, any such disclosable pecuniary interests which they have already declared in the Register, as well as any other registrable or other interests.

 

If a Member requires advice on any item involving a possible declaration of interest which could affect his/her ability to speak and/or vote, he/she is advised to contact the Monitoring Officer at least 24 hours in advance of the meeting.

To consider the draft Pay Policy Statement 2018/19 prior to consideration by Full Council.

The Human Resources Advisor presented the Pay Policy Statement 2018/19 report for South Lakeland District Council. The Pay Policy Statement provided transparency with regard to the Council’s approach to setting the pay and remuneration of its employees, detailing in particular the pay of the Senior Management Team. It was highlighted that national pay negotiations were ongoing and that work would be undertaken, as part of the Customer Connect Programme, to review minimum salary levels taking account of national pay negotiations and the voluntary living wage.

 

The Director of Policy and Resources (Monitoring Officer) and the Human Resources Advisor responded to queries raised by Members.

 

RESOLVED – That

 

(1)        it be noted that work will be undertaken as part of the Customer Connect Programme to review the minimum salary provision for employees, taking account of national pay negotiations; and

 

(2)        the Pay Policy Statement 2018/19 for South Lakeland District Council be recommended to Full Council for approval.

Minutes:

RESOLVED - That, under Section 100(A)(4) of the Local Government Act 1972, the press and public be excluded from the meeting for the following item of business on the grounds that it involves the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in Part 1 of Schedule 12 A of the Act as amended by the Local Government (Access to Information) (Variation) Order 2006 by virtue of the paragraph indicated.

Health, Safety and Wellbeing Committee

To receive the minutes of the meeting of the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Committee held on 15 January 2018 (copy attached).

Minutes:

The Committee requested confirmation that the updated Employee Booklet had been published on SharePoint and the Director Policy and Performance (Monitoring Officer) undertook to clarify and respond accordingly.

 

RESOLVED – That the minutes of the meeting of the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Committee held on 15 January 2018 be noted.
