Committee structure

The full Council is responsible for setting the budget and the overall policy framework.

The Cabinet is responsible for making most of the day-to-day decisions and has to make these decisions in line with the Council’s overall policies and budget.  If it wishes to make a decision which is outside the budget or policy framework, this must be referred to the Council as a whole to decide.

The Overview and Scrutiny Committee reviews and scrutinises decisions which have been taken and upcoming areas of work, and encourages and enhances community participation in the development of policies in relation to Council functions.
