Declarations of Interest

To receive declarations by Members of interests in respect of items on this Agenda.

 

Members are reminded that, in accordance with the revised Code of Conduct, they are required to declare any disclosable pecuniary interests or other registrable interests which have not already been declared in the Council’s Register of Interests.  (It is a criminal offence not to declare a disclosable pecuniary interest either in the Register or at the meeting.)

 

Members may, however, also decide, in the interests of clarity and transparency, to declare at this point in the meeting, any such disclosable pecuniary interests which they have already declared in the Register, as well as any other registrable or other interests.

 

If a Member requires advice on any item involving a possible declaration of interest which could affect his/her ability to speak and/or vote, he/she is advised to contact the Monitoring Officer at least 24 hours in advance of the meeting.

To consider the approval of the revised Sex Establishment Licensing Policy 2017.

The Principal Food, Licensing and Safety Officer presented a report which requested Members to consider the adoption of the revised Sex Establishment Licensing Policy 2017. The policy set out the basis on which the Council could control venues licenced for sexual entertainment under Schedule 3 of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982 (as amended by Section 27 of the Policing and Crime Act 2009).   The policy also set out the regulation of sex establishments and the procedure relating to applications for sex establishment licensing. The revised policy included sections on relevant locality and reasons for refusal.

 

RESOLVED – That

 

(1)        the contents of the report and the results of the consultation on the revised Policy be noted; and

 

(2)        the revised Sex Establishment Licensing Policy (Appendix 1 to the report) be approved for adoption.
